Allan Quiat ‘73: ZBT gave me leadership and mentoring skills that have served me well in my career

Allan Quiat ‘73 ([email protected]) says that he decided to join ZBT as a way to make connections far from home. “As an incoming freshman coming to the big city of Atlanta from my hometown of Cheyenne, Wyoming (population 50,000 at that time), I was looking for a great opportunity to join a congenial group of guys with whom I could immediately bond.”

He says that as he examined and experienced several of the fraternities on the Tech campus during my first term at Georgia Tech, ZBT was very welcoming and the values that he saw from the brothers there seemed to be a good match to his.

One of his favorite memories is of his pledge class joining the house. “All of pledge initiation week (a.k.a. “Hell Week”) was wonderful. Our pledge class of 52 was overwhelming to the brotherhood of some 25-ish members or so!”

He says that Zeta Beta Tau has been influential on his life far after graduation. “The fraternity experience gave me early insight and experience into leadership skills and mentoring skills that served me well in my career after graduation.”

He says that giving back is crucial. “I think it is important to support an institution like GT ZBT for other young men who are looking for a similar experience that benefited me.”

“There is great need for financial support in so many areas,” he adds. “It is important to include ZBT in my annual donation planning because I firmly believe that the fraternity experience must be perpetuated for the next generation(s).
