Alumni Profile: Stanley Cohen ’64

We recently caught up with our very own Stanley Cohen ’64 and had the chance to ask him about his ZBT experience, and where life since Georgia Tech has taken him. Here’s what he had to say: 

Where has life taken you since you graduated? Give us a brief recap up to this point including career and family highlights.

I received my PhD in Quantitative Psychology from Michigan State University. During this time, I also married the “girl of my dreams” Judy Kunik who I met at the wedding of my Phi Ep best friend.  I taught one year at the University of Chicago and then moved to West Virginia University where I remained until my retirement about 12 years ago. Judy and I have two beautiful sons both married and provided us with 3 grandkids. 

What are the most important lessons you learned because of Zeta Beta Tau?

Since I held offices in the fraternity, I value the organizational and leadership skills developed there. Also, community living (3 years in the house) also was challenging—but mostly socially rewarding—at times. 

When you look back on your time in Zeta Beta Tau, what moments do you tend to remember most?

By far the socials on the weekend which gave me much relief from the studying and stress at GT. And the dates off campus I had through these events since at that time GT had a very minor female enrollment.

Can you share any photos of you back at Georgia Tech or today?

Anything else you’d like to add?

Fraternity life broadened both my intellectual and social skills. It provided built-in classmates that shared the college experience, both its ups and downs.
